Collaborate with Us Internationally!

Occupational Therapist of a Seating Advisory Team:  ”We ask our clients to fill out the Wheelchair Check before they visit us. This gives us valuable information from the client’s perspective”

Why International Collaboration?

  1.  Empowerment Wheelchair Users: We aim for wheelchair users and professionals in other countries to embrace the screening tool, as we have seen its empowering impact on Dutch and Flemish wheelchair users.
  2. Linking to the Screening Tool:  When local (national) organizations integrate the screening tool into their websites, it becomes more readily accessible to their own country’s wheelchair population. We can incorporate the logo’s of (new) participating partners into the Wheelchair Check screening report form and website.
  3. Translating the Screening Tool in More Languages: Enthusiastic partners’ assistance in translation will enable us to make the tool available in additional languages. The newly translated languages will be added to this Wheelchair Check website.
  4. Scientific International Collaboration: Collaboration will provide insights into the quality and functioning of provided wheelchairs in different countries. The database behind the tool allows for comparison between (and within) countries. International scientific publications will result from collaboration among rehabilitation centers, universities and patient organizations involved in the  Wheelchair Check project.
  5. Reducing Wheelchair Related Problems: Our ultimate goal is   to significantly reduce wheelchair-related health problems globally through this international initiative.

Therefore, in collaboration with the European Platform of Rehabilitation (EPR) we are seeking international patient organizations, rehabilitation centers etc. interested in joining the Wheelchair Check project. Learn how to join the Wheelchaircheck project here.

In October 2023, at the International Spinal Cord Organization (ISCOS) in Edinburgh, a presentation promoting international collaboration of the screening tool was introduced:
