“Research done on the original Dutch Wheelchair Check database:”
Research opportunities
By establishing a worldwide database of wheelchair users, we can investigate fascinating research questions and find answers. International collaboration is crucial, so we’re inviting partners to join forces with us.
Presentations
Recently, at the International Seating Symposium (March 21th 2025) we presented on the WheelchairCheck and how it can be of value for wheelchair users, professionals and researchers. Here you can find a pdf of the presentation:
ISS Linda Valent WheelchairCheck
At the European Seating Symposium in June 2024 (Dublin), we gave a (well-received) presentation on the use of the tool and the research possibilities it offers:
‘A screening tool to empower wheelchair users and clinicians to reduce wheelchair-related health problems’ (presentation)
‘Satisfaction with sitting posture varies between wheelchair users with different diagnoses’ (poster)
Results have been presented using selected data from the Dutch Checkjezit database (Dutch College of Rehabilitation Medicine DCRM, 2023, Den Bosch, The Netherlands):
Title: ‘How do children/youngsters rate sitting and rolling in their hand rim wheelchair’
